There's very no attention paid to the idea of being a younger Batman in gameplay terms. It is completely an Arkham City clone in terms of gameplay, but as a whole is probably not as good after all is said and done. When he's good - (somewhere in the middle, with the rough voice) he's pretty good - but when he drops a line, it hurts my ears. Even if they are in my way.īatman's new Voice Actor occasionally has moments of Connory - as in - I almost think he *is Connory and then the next moment he'll lose it and sound like a bad impression of Bale's Batman. The whole crime scene *did* catch me offguard though. I'm really trying to decide if they're setting up a reveal where everyone's favorite lunatic is pretending to be Scionis or if there'll be a bigger twist incoming. Its simple, but it has kinda a Remember Me Feel to it, and since I enjoyed the Memory Remix bits from that game - thats not a bad thing. the Lacey Tower Crime scene was not the first Crimescene I played (did a sidequest one - that was fun - but I have to say I really dig the new system. The Deathstroke fight ended up being a Quick Time Event - but I didn't really recognize it as that until the fight was over and I'd won (took two trys.) Patience is the watch word with Deathstroke, but if you do it right, pulling off a flawless is completely possible.

The first encounter with "The Electrocutioner" made me giggle like a schoolgirl (Seriously, they give him a full boss health bar and you start thinking 'oh, this is gonna be a fight with a guy that acts like the stun baton guys on steroids' and then you attack him once and it goes to a cutscene where you kick him in the face once and he goes down like a punk. If you've not been to Lacey Tower to solve the crime there, do not read. Which is funny because I generally hate christmas carols (too many years in Retail) - but the juxtapozition while I'm beating up guys trying to bust into an ATM was kinda awesome.īoss and Story spoilers below the fold. I like the Christmas Carols playing over loudspeakers in some areas. But AC was only 'part of the city' so if it felt small you could justify it with 'theres a bunch of Gotham just outside the walls we can't see' I wish there *were* civilians on the streets - I know there's a plot justification for it, but honestly - despite being 'bigger' it doesn't feel a lot different then AC - and since this is supposed to be 'all of Gotham' it ends up feeling a little small.ĭon't get me wrong - its bigger then AC.

They need to patch that double quick because it'll keep you from opening the quick route to that area. Nope - there's a batman removable grate at the end. I though maybe I needed to use a remote batarang instead. An enemy tried to strike me when I was next to a wall, I hit Y to counter, and did this awesome run up, jump off the wall and punch the guy. The other was just an 'environmental' counter.

So afterwards, the evidence of your fight is clear in the snow, it's very cool looking. I landed on a rooftop with a handful of enemies, most of the snow on the roof was untouched, as we fight and moved through it, your feet deform the snow and it really looks like people were walking/fighting on it. Two "little" things I noticed that I really like.

The XP system is interesting, gives an incentive to doing combat scenarios a certain way, trying to avoid getting hit, being stealthy, etc.

The combat feels largely the same, although it feels a bit faster to me, I'm curious to hear what others think. Feels like a very natural extension from AC. Shortly after that, the city opens up, the Riddler Trophies are out there, there's police side missions, etc. From the get go, despite their little bits of tutorial, you're thrown right back into the same gameplay you had in AC. It is definitely more of Arkham City (not a bad thing).
